DOMAINE is a European project that focuses on good donor management.
DOMAINE concentrates on various aspects of donor management: donor recruitment strategies, donor retention strategies, deferral procedures and blood bank policy regarding patients requiring long-term transfusion.
Several organizations have joined their forces in DOMAINE:
- 18 blood establishments from 18 European countries
- 1 patient-driven organization (Thalassaemia International Federation)
- 1 representative from the South-Eastern Europe Health Network
DOMAINE aims to create a safe and sufficient blood supply, by comparing and recommending good donor management practice.
In the first phase of the project, a survey has been conducted to analyse donor management practice in Europe. The second phase concentrated on composing a manual, recommending good donor management. The final phase will concentrate on instructing blood establishment professionals on the manual.
