Work Package 7: Training Programme
In this Work Package a Training Programme will be developed and established for using the Donor Management manual.
This universal Training Programme for teaching the Manual will be developed and evaluated by the associate partners involved in this Work Package, excluding one partners, who will validate the Training Programme. Meetings will be held in two consecutive rounds, to allow for discussion and improvement of the training tools. The partners will be assisted by a training expert.
In the first meeting, a brainstorm session will be organized to receive ideas for the content and materials of the Training Programme. Similarly, a brainstorm forum/chat will be hosted on this website in order to include the ideas of similar organizations in non-participating Member States. A draft version of the Training Programme will be developed, which will be discussed in the second meeting.
After this meeting, the Training Programme will be validated by one associated partner, who will not be involved in the development of the Training Programme. The Training Programme will be finalized after the validation. Additionally, publicity and advertising materials will be designed to stimulate training attendance rates.
In general, the Training Programme will consist of two structured educational blocks. In the first block, the Manual will be clarified. It will teach principles of best blood establishment practice in terms of donor recruitment strategies, donor invitation procedures, donor retention strategies, and deferral procedures.
In the second block, the practicability of the Manual will be discussed and adapted, within predefined limits, to local blood establishment practice and donor characteristics in Member States. The training material including practical tools will be written in English and will consist of slide shows and the Manual itself. The presentations will be linked to the contents of the Manual, including practical examples from the Survey.
